Here in Mazatlán, there is no large organized blood bank.  Each patient is responsible for procuring donors for the blood that he or she may need for their medical procedures. 

This is especially difficult for visitors or winter residents who may not know many people here, and who are unfamiliar with the language and the medical system.

For this reason, Friends of Mexico maintains a list of potential donors who are willing to help out.  We are always looking for generous people who can give blood when others are in need. 

You do not need to be a member of FOM to donate or to receive blood.

However, donors must be:

• Under 60 years of age

• Free of any medical problems (e.g. history of Typhoid)

• Willing to take a morning blood screening test (8 hours of fasting required)
