Mazatlán Membership Library
(Formerly known as the Mazatlan Reading Library)

The Mazatlan Membership Library is a not for profit English and Spanish library. It has thousands of books in English and over 300 books in Spanish available to members. There are also hundreds of surplus books for sale to the public and even a box of free books.

The Library is located in El Centro at Sixto Osuna 115 E, just off Olas Altas. It is across the street from the Art Museum and just two doors from the Archeological Museum.

The hours of operation change seasonally. Summer hours are from April 1 through October 31, 10 am to 2 pm Monday through Friday. Winter hours are from November 1 through March 31, 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.

The library is financially supported by membership fees, surplus book sales and donations. The library’s staff and management are all volunteers.

Although the majority of the books in the library are fiction, there are many other categories, including travel, history, biographies, drama, art, sciences, poetry, home health and cook books. There is a children’s section and a good selection of books on tape and movies. The “Mexico Room” has a large bookcase of books in Spanish and another bookcase of books about Mexico in English.

The library relies on donations of books. Many of the books in the library were donated by Joe Ketchum who began the library in 2002, some came from the Tucson Public Library but the majority of the books have come from individuals. Donations may be made directly to the library.
